Dynamical modeling of systemic cardiovascular circulation Vladimir Shusterman University of Pittsburgh The talk will: 1) give a short introduction into the physical structure of the cardiovascular system and its most important components, the cardiac pump and the blood vessels, 2) review some existing models of the cardiovascular system (the Windkessel model and the transmission-line analog) and their applications, 3) introduce a step-function approach to modeling of the pressure waves, 4) discuss potential improvements, new emerging problems and applications.
