There will be no makeup exam for the final. The last day for makeups is Friday 3rd December. All quizzes and exams, including the final, are cumulative, open book and will take place during the class. The quizzes will be 25 minutes long and will be based on material taught in previous classes. The midterm exams will be 50 minutes long, Open book refers just to the books used in the course and to any notes you have taken in class. Graphing calculators are allowed. Homework Homework (one per week): six problems each five points. The homework grader is Jonathan Holland: jeh89@pitt.edu Homework is due each Wednesday in class, beginning Wednesday September 3rd. Grading Grading will be curved and based on total score only, if you pass the final. If you pass the final you may expect a grade in the A+ to B- range. If you fail the final you may expect a grade in the C+ to F range. Grading scheme: 5 quizzes at 30 points per quiz: 150pts. Best 10 homeworks at 30 points per homework: 300pts. 2 midterm exam at 100 points each: 200pts. 1 final exam at 150 points: 150pts. Maximum possible score: 800pts.
